The band have finished their work with Ben Hillier and Dave Mc Cracken at Stratosphere in New York after their previous work in the beginning of the year in a studio of Santa Barbara. Some another studio session seems to be scheduled in London on the next few weeks. the results of this works is 12 songs that have been have been worked on .

As announced on the official website there will be on June 16th a press conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, where some informations about the tour and the album will be made by the band.
The only reliable information about tour is that in November 2005 Depeche Mode will be at the Madison Square Garden in New York as this website seems to inform (auction for LREI of Dave & his wife Jennifer of a ticket to the next DM concert in New York )

As for release dates it seems a single is scheduled for September ( as announced & confirmed by french label for Mute Records: Labels ) and probably October for the release date of the new album (still unconfirmed except it will be in Autumn 2005)

Lately a German film production company Q Film has been doing with a “Making of...” film about the new album. The person in charge of this project is director Uwe Flade who also directed the recent videos of "Enjoy The Silence 04" and "Bottle Living" ( for Dave's album).

Depeche Mode will also be featuring on "The work of director Anton Corbijn" DVD, that will be released soon( Release date is September 17 2005 ).It will feature the video of "Enjoy The Silence" with an exclusive commentary track by Dave Gahan. You will find other documentaries and videos of Joy Division, U2, Nirvana and some more on this DVD.

Anton also seems to be have been working with the band recently for the new album sleeve, he met them in studio to take some pictures and seemed quite happy with what he heard of the new album.

article about Depeche Mode with Dave Gahan on Q magazine

In the recent edition of Q magazine there was a short interview of David Gahan and the work in progress about the new album , they ended a big part of their work in studio in New York recently in Stratosphere Studio ( owned by James Iha ex Smashing Pumpkins and member of A perfect Circle ) Among the 12 new tracks that were prepared during those sessions are those songs :

- "Everything"
- "Sinner in Me"
- "Suffer Well"
- "'Pain"
- "Free"
- "Macro"
- "Martyr For Love"
(all these still are working titles ,and may not be the final names of the songs)

It was also confirmed that Martin and Dave both have written tracks for this new album.

In the article of Q Mag Dave said that the new album would be placed between “Violator” and “Songs of Faith and Devotion”. David seems to be quite optimistic and pleased with this new album saying that everyhting went well and quite different from Exciter , because during Exciter recording "it all felt a bit dead. This time we're all pulling together a lot more"
