| "As Chicago pop band The Smashing Pumpkins prepare to bow out of the music scene with one last tour of the major cities this fall, imusic.com has learned of a compilation tribute album set to be released next year, possibly in mid-Spring. Such luminaries as Depeche Mode, Simon Le Bon, PJ Harvey and even R&B diva Missy Elliot are set to record tracks in upcoming months in homage to the Pumpkins, who recently announced that they would split at the years end. This album will of course be in addition to the next Pumpkin's LP, the follow up to this year's MACHINA/the machines of God, which the band are currently finishing off in a Chicago recording studio.
