CURVE

Curve
Toni Halliday & Dean Garcia

You can consider Curve's music as a mix between guitar noise, dance tracks, dark goth, and airy melodies but "Dark music" is more appropriated.
The meeting between guitarist Dean Garcia and vocalist Toni Halliday was made through David Stewart of Eurythmics.
Halliday met Stewart while she was a teenager and they remained friends for years.
Garcia played on Eurythmics' Touch and Be Yourself Tonight.
Halliday happens to be married to producer Alan Moulder ,their circle of friends also includes producer Flood (Mark Ellis) and My Bloody Valentine thoughtmeister Kevin Shields, as well as Tim Simenon , Trent Reznor or Alan Wilder
The two played together in State of Play, who released one album and two singles in the late '80s to little notice.
After the failure of that band, Garcia and Halliday went each on their own to get back together in the early 90s.
They called themselves Curve, and they released three EPs that became independent hits in 1991.
Their next EP and first album, 1992's Doppelganger, hit number one on the U.K. indie charts.
In 1993 they released Cuckoo, for which Curve had added two guitarists and a drummer, with Garcia moving to bass.
Cuckoo
is noisier and more experimental than their previous releases.
The album didn't have the same success as the previous ones , the band splitted several months after its release, only to reform in 1997 with the Chinese Burn EP. The full-length Come Clean was released a year later in 1998.
Toni Halliday and Dean Garcia are no strangers to record label problems. They kept up with their fans by running their own web site (an amazing site at www.curve.co.uk/) and even gave those fans a collection of MP3 that are considered now as full official album (Open day at the Hate Fest)
And right now they released GIFT
(Hip-O/Universal) their latest album, very surprising and with lot of guests coming by for some of the songs (among them Alan Wilder) . Curve's sonic landscapes and monolith production have influenced numerous esteemed acts from Garbage to several other hard-hitting acts in the last 10 years, yet Curve has never achieved the commercial success of those who emulate them. Gift's aural assault and brutally honest and personal lyrics are softened by Halliday's gorgeous voice as well as being enhanced by superb collective production offered up by Halliday, Garcia and Ben Grosse
The album's first single is : “Hell Above Water” , if you haven't heard it yet , do it now.
