Wembley _10 /17.

5 :30 pm_ Wednesday.

We are now in front of the Wembley Arena, two big posters announce the evenig show and the release of Freelove. Amazed, we go towards the entrance, and how disappointed we are at seeing so few fans and a lot of dishonest people : " buy or sell tickets ".

As a matter of fact, queues at 5 :00 pm in England looks like the ones at 9 :00 am at Bercy !
Currently surrounded by frying smell ( sausage & Co… ) we hear some the familiar notes of " it’s no good ".
As the good fans that we are, our feet lead us towards this musical bliss. Following : " Home " and to our great surprise " Judas ".
Time is running but no more English fans. We recognise some known faces, mostly German people.

6 :30 pm_the doors open.

We bring easily our cameras inside and discover the heart of the Wembley Arena. What a hell ! The ground glues, it stinks beer, it’s empty, and most of all we have seats behind the standing floor.

7 :30 pm_Fad Gadget.

Fad Gadget is announced and 75 % of the audience is not arrived yet. We instinctively stand up at the first notes, but soon, we are stopped by a member of the security staff who advices us to sit down.
" Whaaaat ? ! You’re talkin’ to me ? " Unbelievable, we are disturbing these dear British ( restricted view ).
During the support we try to change our seats for better ones or for the standing floor ( in vain ).

Suddenly, Frank Tovey yells :  "fucking dead audience ! fucking dead city ! I’ve been all aroud Europe and it’s the worst day of my life ! ". We are not the only ones to be frustrated by seeing such less activity among the audience

We feel angry, ashamed and astonished at the same time.
After Fad Gadget, the Wembley Arena is still desperatly empty. It’s impossible to drink at the bar and to attend the show in the hall at the same time!

8 :30 pm_Depeche Mode.

Fortunatly, all those walking beer barrels stand up, but their enthousiasm is limited. We have the feeling that they only came for Personnal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence.
What a suffer to see Dave trying to move them for Freelove : " stand up, you’re not here to be seated ! Come on, we’re not from nowhere ! "

No chorus at the end of songs, no silence for When the Body Speaks and no Judas.
We are more especially ashamed to be part of the audience as the band performance is excellent !
We fear the second Show.

Wembley 10 / 18.

See Wembley 10 / 17, without Tovey’s insults and better seats for us near the stage.
The audience seem a bit more nervous. Some of them even sing with us Enjoy the Silence after the show.
But they don’t deserve more comments, it's not even worth it.
Be sure that we will never come back again !
